This Privacy Policy explains how the Image Compressor Chrome extension ("the Extension") by StealthWeb Studios ("we", "us", "our") handles information and user data. The Extension's primary purpose is to compress JPG and PNG images locally in your browser so you can reduce file sizes for faster uploads, improved page speed, and reduced storage usage.
The Extension performs image compression entirely inside the user's browser. Images selected for compression are processed locally on the device and are not uploaded to our servers or third-party services. The Extension does not transmit image contents to any external endpoint.
Short answer: We do not collect personal data or image contents.
Specifically:
The Extension requests only the minimal Chrome permission necessary to function:
storage — Used to persist user preferences locally (for example: preferred compression level, last-used output format, and UI settings). These values are stored in the browser's local storage and are not transmitted to any server.We intentionally avoid requesting permissions such as activeTab or host access unless a specific optional feature explicitly requires it. If you enable any optional feature that requires additional permission, you will be informed and asked to grant that permission via the Chrome prompt.
The Extension does not execute remote code or load code from external servers at runtime. All compression logic runs in the user's browser using code packaged with the Extension. We also do not rely on third-party cloud services to perform compression.
Because we do not collect images or personal data, there is nothing to retain on our servers. Any preferences stored in the browser remain until the user clears their browser data, uninstalls the Extension, or resets preferences from the Extension UI.
We take reasonable steps to ensure the Extension's code is secure and does not inadvertently expose user data. Because compression occurs locally, the main data-handling risk is limited to the user's device. Users should keep their browser and operating system updated to benefit from the latest security patches.
The Extension is not intended for use by children under the age of 13. We do not knowingly collect personal data from children. If you believe a child under 13 has provided personal information in connection with this Extension, please contact us and we will take steps to delete that information.
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. When we do, we will update the "Last updated" date at the top. Material changes that affect data collection or sharing practices will be communicated clearly in the Extension store listing and via an in-extension notification where feasible.
